Hello golfers,
Last week the PGA Tour held the Northern Trust Open at the picturesque Riviera Country Club with Bubba Watson winning by a single shot in spite of a late surge from Adam Scott. Despite the brilliance of those at the top of the leaderboard, there were a few performances that prove even with their talent most of these players are still human! Rory McIlroy struggled on the final day firing a final round 75 despite being in contention after three rounds, while world number one Jordan Spieth was caught hitting a spectacular shank on the driving range on Friday having shot 79 the day before. You can view the video by clicking here.
Closer to home, the Vets took on the Juniors in their annual match last Friday. In a close match the Juniors ended the contest victorious winning 4-2, with captain Lucas Gambel taking the trophy from Phil Wilkins (pictured). The Juniors kept their winning run going with another victory on Sunday in the Christies Cup when they defeated Bramley by 78 points to 67. They will now face either Walton Heath or Puttenham in the next round.
Please note that due to the Thai Cup and St Patricks plate on Sunday, 13 March, the Mixed Competition that was scheduled for that day has now been moved a week earlier to Sunday, 6 March.
Kind Regards,
Paul Schunter
Director of Golf and Operations
