Hello golfers,
Last weekend saw Gareth Jones elected as Club Captain for 2016/17 following the AGM on Saturday evening. Following the meeting there was a party which was fantastically supported with over 160 members attending to celebrate the beginning of Gareth's Captaincy. Those present were treated to a spectacular fireworks display and some drives from the terrace using glow in the dark golf balls. On Sunday morning Gareth hit his first shot as Captain which travelled a respectable 223 yards. In the first Captain/Pro match of his term, we secured a slender 1up victory against Peter Heath and Paul Vermont.
The beginning of the US Masters is now only a fortnight away and it looks set to be a cracker. With so many players showing good form leading up to the first Major of the year, picking a winner is almost impossible. Once the field size has been confirmed our popular Pro Shop Masters Sweepstake will begin giving you the chance to try and pick the right name out of the hat.
Please note that despite this Friday being a Bank Holiday it is to be treated as a normal Friday with regards to tee times. Monday, 28 March will however be treated as weekend day, with times needing to be booked on the start sheet on the main noticeboard for those wishing to play in the morning.
This year's Surrey County Cards have now been delivered and are ready to collect from the pro shop.

Social Events
Bookings are now being taken for this year's Summer Ball. The black tie event will take place on Saturday, 25 June, with the ticket price of £65 per person including a welcome drink, three course meal and live music from 'Uptown Funk'. Coming up shortly there is also:

A Jazz evening will be held on Friday, 15 April with music from The Man Overboard Quintet. Tickets cost £18 for Jazz only and £35 for Jazz with a two course meal with the event open to members and their guests.
A theatre trip to see Sunny Afternoon, a hit musical based on music from The Kinks, which will take place on Wednesday, 20 April. Leaving the club at 12.30pm by coach there will be a matinee performance followed by a two course meal for £52 per person.

Shoe Fitting Day
