Hello golfers,
Pace of play is quite often talked about in the Professional and Amateur game, with many feeling rounds of golf take far longer than they should. The European Tour proved recently that golf need not take a long time, when they challenged three teams of Pros to beat the current world record for the time to play a hole over 500 yards. The French team of Alexander Levy, Raphaël Jacquelin, Gregory Havret and Romain Wattel managed to break the record with an astonishing time of 34.8 seconds! To watch the video please click here.
On the pace of play theme, four of our members are planning to take on the MacMillan 72 holes in a day challenge on Monday, 20 June. Led by Ben Goldsmith, the quartet which includes fellow members Luke Wilton, Tony Eason and Club Captain Gareth Jones will play four rounds in a day to raise funds for a very worthy cause. If you would like to sponsor them you can do so by donating on their JustGiving page by clicking here.
The work carried out during the winter programme to the 6th tee has now been completed. The teeing area has been widened and relevelled by Simon and his team, who hope to have it open for play in the first few weeks of May.
A quick reminder that entries for this year's Pro-Am open at 7.30am this Saturday morning in the professional shop. We look forward to seeing you at the club this week.
Kind Regards,
Paul Schunter
Director of Golf & Operations

It's Time To Get A Grip!
As we head into the start of the golf season one area of a player's equipment that is quite often overlooked is the condition of their grips. Quite often we see grips that are:
- Smooth, with shiny patches and hard surfaces
- Cracked or split
- Show wear spots, especially where the thumbs make contact
- Faded or bare spots on grips that have been painted or have logos
- Complete loss of tack
Improperly sized grips, grips that aren't suited for certain weather conditions, grips that don't enhance playing ability and grips that are simply worn-out and slick will negatively impact your game and cost you strokes. Comfort, consistency, shot dispersion and shot distance can all be improved with new golf grips.
To help you get the best out of your grips we are currently offering 13 grips for the price of 10 on full sets, and seven grips for the price of six on a half set of re-grips while stocks last.
