Hello golfers,
Last weekend was a busy one at the club with the all three of the Club Championship events taking place along with the Stewart Cup for the juniors. A full round up of the winners and results can be found in the email below with some great golf on display. Just down the road at Wentworth there was yet another fine English performance in a major tournament as Chris Wood won the BMW PGA Championship. Following on from Danny Willet's Masters victory the signs are looking good for the reaming Majors of the season and of course September's all important Ryder Cup showdown!
This weekend we will be hosting the Surrey Amateur Championship over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Many of the county's top golfers will be in attendance including Cuddington's Scott Mutter, James Austin-Rooth and Enrique Dimayuga all taking part. As a result please be aware that the course will be closed until approximately 5pm on Friday, 3 June and the first tee will be reserved for small periods of time over the weekend for the matchplay rounds. Please feel free to come and spectate and support the Cuddington members playing.
Please note that this year's Captain's Charity Day has been postponed from next Saturday, 11 June until Saturday, 20 August.
Kind Regards,
Paul Schunter
Director of Golf & Operations
Club Championships
Last weekend we held the Men's, Ladies and Junior Championships across both days with some fantastic golf being played. Junior member Enrique Dimayuga took both the Men's and Junior Championships after gross rounds of 71 and 73 to win by two strokes from Scott Mutter. This is only the fourth time that a junior member has achieved such a feat. Enrique continued his good form yesterday winning the South of England Schools Championships at Canterbury Golf Club after rounds of 78 and 76 in atrocious conditions. Congratulations Enrique on three fantastic victories!
The Ladies Championship was decided on the final hole after a thrilling finish between Tana Churchill and Luan Skeates. Tana's total of 158 was good enough to take the title by a single shot over Luan, congratulations Tana! Sue Morphew won the Nettie McPhail Salver which is awarded to the winner of the nett competition in the Ladies Championship.
In the over 50's section Paul Sutherland took both the gross and the nett prizes, while Owen Richardson took the nett prize in both the Men's and Junior Championships. On Saturday afternoon we had all juniors with a handicap of 14 or higher take part in the Stewart Cup where Luke Jones took home the trophy after a superb nett 65. His closest challenger was Chewon Cho who returned a very good nett 68.
Many thanks to all competitors, volunteers and spectators for taking part in this year's championships.

It's time to get a grip!
As we head into the start of the golf season, one area of a player's equipment that is quite often overlooked is the condition of their grips. Quite often we see grips that are:
- Smooth, with shiny patches and hard surfaces
- Cracked or split
- Show wear spots, especially where the thumbs make contact
- Faded or bare spots on grips that have been painted or have logos
- Complete loss of tack
Improperly sized grips, grips that aren't suited for certain weather conditions, grips that don't enhance playing ability and grips that are simply worn-out and slick will negatively impact your game and cost you strokes. Comfort, consistency, shot dispersion and shot distance can all be improved with new golf grips.
To help you get the best out of your grips we are currently offering 13 grips for the price of 10 on full sets, and seven grips for the price of six on a half set of re-grips while stocks last.
