Next week sees The Open start at Royal Troon for the 145th playing of the event. My picks for a win are either Jason Day or Rory McIlroy. For those of you who fancy a flutter, our Open Sweepstake is now up and running. Tickets cost £3 a square with all prize money going into prizes. To purchase your tickets please visit the pro shop, all squares purchased will be assigned a player on Wednesday, 13 July before The Open commences.
Good luck to all of those playing in this Sunday's Pro-Am which boasts a strong field of professionals and a fully booked start sheet. Please note that as a result the course will be closed until 5pm.

Junior Success
More good news from the junior section with some excellent performances from Enrique Dimayuga and Owen Richardson. Enrique finished sixth at the English Schools 36 Hole Competition at Belton Park Golf Club in Grantham after rounds of 76 and 69. On the back of this result, Enrique has been selected to play for the U18 English Schools team to play Scotland Schools at Fairhaven Golf Club in Lancashire on Sunday, 11 September. Owen recently finished fifth while representing his School Whitgift in the Independent Schools Trophy at Burhill. A day later Owen finished fourth at the Surrey Schools Boys Championship which was won by, you guessed it, Enrique! Congratulations to you both on some excellent results, keep up the good work.
July Mixed Stableford
First place - Tony Sparkes (34 points on countback) and in second place - Paul Freshwater (34 points on countback).
Having now played the seventh Mixed Stableford, we now only have five Mixed Competitions left of the year. The Mixed Stableford Leaderboard currently has Julia Brick in first followed by Len Moore in second. Being only 21 points apart, it is all still to play for. We hope to see you all entering August's installment.

Social Events
As we head into the second half of 2016, the following social events are now fast approaching:
The ever popular Blues Night returns on Saturday, 23 July with music from the Paul Cox band. Tickets cost £25 per person which includes a BBQ (main only) from 7pm., with the music starting at 9pm.
Celebrate with Tapas, Flamenca Dancing and Music at our Spanish Evening. "Fiesta Flamenca" will provide a wonderful display of Flamenco dance and guitar combined with Latin American songs. Tickets cost £38 per person.
A series of Family Sunday Lunches throughout 2016 which Andrew and his catering team will be running. Special prices which include complimentary starters and desserts are on offer for all children under the age of 12. For more information on the dates available please
