Hello golfers,
Jim Furyk
It's not often that golfing history is made, however, there have been a couple of remarkable scores in recent weeks. On the web.com tour Stephen Jaeger shot a round of 58 in the Ellie May Classic in late July. This feat was repeated by PGA Tour stalwart Jim Furyk as he also shot 58 in the final round of the Traveler's Championship last weekend. Furyk had already shot a 59 during the 2013 BMW Championship so was clearly no stranger to shooting such low scores. I wonder how long it will be until these scores are either matched or bettered!

Golf also makes a welcome return to the Olympics this week despite the absence of many of the world's top players. Team GB are represented by Major winners Justin Rose and Danny Willett in the men's event and Charley Hull and Catriona Matthew in the ladies event the following week.

CourseFinally, Simon and his team have now completed the majority of the course works this week. The majority of their time was spent earlier in the week hollow-tyning and top dressing the greens. He hopes to see the playing surfaces return to their normal selves within the next 7 to 10 days.

Kind Regards,
Paul Schunter
Director of Golf & Operations

Open Events

Open EventsIn the past week we have held both the Ladies Summer Open and the Gent's Invitational. It was great to see so many visiting golfers enjoying the excellent facilities we have at Cuddington. Winning the Ladies Open were Sylvia Huggair (Willingdon) and Rosie Chisolm-Hill (Copthorne) with a fantastic 41 points giving them a two shot victory over Sue Reed (Hoebridge) and Rosie Laws (Hoebridge).

In the Gent's Invitational Jameel Cockar and Errol Allen (pictured) won the main prize of the day after an excellent betterball score of 44 points, pipping Martin Mahoney and P. Arnold by a single point.

Video of the week

There's always going to be an element of luck with any hole-in-one, but this is something else! Sadly for Thomas Bjørn, it won't go down as a competitive ace.. Still… worth a watch.
