Hello golfers,
Last weekend saw the Duncan Salver take place which is open to all individual competition winners from the past 12 months. On a day of tricky scoring, James Ansell's fine 66 was good enough to win by three shots from Mark Barnham, with Jamie Warriner in third spot after a nett 70. Congratulations also go to Andy Finbow and Alistair Lawson who won the Play-off for the Americas Cup on Sunday against Paul Purton and Paul Freshwater.
Entries are now open for this year's Captain's Day which is scheduled for Saturday, 1 October. The entry fee is £30 per player which includes golf (teams of four with the best two scores counting), prizes and a two course buffet lunch. Entries for both the Dutch Cup and the Snell Salver are also being taken, with Sunday, 2 October the deadline to sign-up for these winter knockout events. Please add your name to the sign-in sheets on the main noticeboard or simply click here if you wish to take part in any of the above competitions.
Please be aware of two events occurring at the club next week. On Monday, 12 September we are hosting the PGA South Region Assistants' Championship meaning the course will be closed until around 5pm that day. On Thursday, 15 September we have a society booking that is utilising a shotgun start in the morning meaning the course will be closed until approximately 2pm.
Kind Regards,
Paul Schunter
Director of Golf & Operations
Start times
To alleviate congestion on the first tee on mid-week competition days, we will be trialling some amended tee times for the next scheduled event on Wednesday, 14 September. By releasing some of the underutilised competitor's only times in the morning, we hope to reduce the amount of games forced to start on the 10th tee that have to filter in with those starting on the 1st tee after nine holes. To view the amended times please click here.
