Hello golfers,
We had just shy of 120 golfers take part in Captain's Day last weekend, despite the persistent wet weather throughout the morning. The hottest team on the course was the fourball of Mark Cleaver, Jim Bennett, Neil Turk and Barry Banfield (pictured) who returned an excellent 94 points, winning by six from Matt Taylor, Stuart Butt, Jon Bell and Paul Purton who claimed second spot on countback.
Despite the European team being on the end of a 17-11 scoreline, this year's Ryder Cup still made for excellent viewing. In what became quite a feisty encounter at Hazeltine, I'm not sure there can be too many arguments with the final result. There was some fabulous golf on show, particularly in the Sunday Singles where both Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia shot rounds of 63 in their match which finished all square.
Congratulations go to James and Matthew Shew who won the 36 hole Dainty Cup Final on Sunday with an 8&6 victory over Scott Mutter and Ian Torkington. The draws for both the Dutch Cup and the Snell Salver have both been completed and can be viewed by clicking here (Dutch Cup) or here (Snell Salver). Alternatively they are both are available to view on the member's area of the website. Please note that the deadline for the first round of the Dutch Cup is Sunday, 13 November.

Social Events
As we head into the final part of 2016, the following social events are now fast approaching:
Abba Night - Saturday, 8 October. Sing along to your all time favourite songs from the 70's classic band Abba at our fun tribute evening. Tickets - £35 to include two course buffet with members and their guests welcome. The dress code is smart casual with a prizes for the best 70s dress!
Christmas Party Night - Friday, 9 December. This popular event returns providing the perfect place to have an early Christmas gathering or company staff party. Tickets cost £40 per person which includes Bucks Fizz on arrival, a two course buffet meal and a disco until 12pm.
A series of Family Sunday Lunches throughout 2016 which Andrew and his catering team will be running. Special prices which include complimentary starters and desserts are on offer for all children under the age of 12. For more information on the dates available please

This Friday, 7 October we will be hosting another of the very poplar FootJoy shoe fitting days. For those of you thinking of investing in a new pair of shoes before the winter takes hold, this is the perfect opportunity to get your feet measured by a member of the FootJoy team to ensure you get the best fit possible. Due to the popularity of the events we held last year I would strongly advise booking an appointment as no guarantees can be made that you will be able to be seen on the day without one.
