Hello golfers,
Ian Cochrane began his year as Club Captain following the AGM on Saturday evening. The following morning Ian produced a fine first shot during the Drive-in Ceremony, with his ball finishing 256 yards from the tee. Ernie Jarvis had the nearest correct guess for the length of Ian's drive on the Charity Drive-in sheet, winning a bottle of Champagne in the process. The other correct guesses came from Tony Abbott, Ian Torkington and Ray Turner who also won a bottle of bubbles each. All proceeds from will go to Ian's chosen charity for the year which will be the Samaritans. I would like to wish Ian all the very best for the year ahead!
Ross Fisher produced some fantastic golf last week to secure himself a place in next week's Masters at Augusta. Despite losing his initial match, wins against world number four Hideki Matsuyama, Tour veteran Jim Furyk and then two time Major winner Bubba Watson saw Ross progress to the Quarter Finals where he was eventually beaten by Japan's Hideto Tanihara. Well played Ross and keep up the good form!
I would like to draw your attention a Charity Day that is being played at the club next Friday, 7 April which is raising funds for World War Two veterans and their trip back to the beaches of Normandy. As a result both tees will be closed from 10:20am until approximately 3:00pm as there is a two tee start scheduled at 10:30am for 120 golfers. We look forward to seeing you at the club this week.

We are running a new promotion to kick start the 2017 season with a raffle to win a brand new driver to take onto the fairways this year. Tickets cost £5 each with the winner receiving a fully custom fitted driver of their choice from the brands we stock including the Callaway Big Bertha Epic and the TaylorMade M series. A new year means plenty more chances to enjoy one of the many social events we have lined up at Cuddington this year, including:
Bookings are now being taken for lunch on Easter Sunday, 16 April. There will be a selection of starters and desserts with a carvery and fish dishes available for the main course. Tickets cost £25.50 for adults and £12.50 for children under 12 (including an Easter egg) with reservations being taken on a first come first served basis.
Our popular Jazz Evening returns on Saturday, 22 April with The Man Overboard Quintet performing their take on a repertoire of tunes made famous by the likes of Billie Holiday, Django Reinhardt, the Mills Brothers, Duke Ellington and Fats Waller. There will be a two course pre-jazz dinner (at 6:00pm), with the jazz beginning at 8:00pm. Tickets cost £36 per person for food and jazz and £18 per person for jazz only.
Friday, 5 May will see Andrew and his team put on a Barn Dance for y'all! Tickets cost £28 per person which includes a hog roast supper plus live music from Barn Dance Band The Haylayers. Open to both members and guests, jeans are allowed for this event where you are encouraged to dance your boots off!
