Hello golfers,
As we head towards the busier time of the year, there are events coming up thick and fast. Entries are now open for the Club Championships which will be held on the weekend of Saturday, 27 May and Sunday, 28 May. The Championships will again be played over two days, with the men's first round taking place on Saturday morning, and the ladies first round and Junior Stuart Cup taking place on Saturday afternoon. There will then be a cut in both the men's and ladies events, with the second rounds taking place on Sunday afternoon. Those wishing to play in the Junior Championship will do so in the Men's Championship draw over both days.
A few weeks later, Club Captain Ian Cochrane will be holding his Captain's Charity Day on Saturday, 10 June. The entry fee will be £35 per person which includes a two course dinner, prizes and a charitable donation. The event is open to all members including ladies, gents, five day members and members' guests. All green fees are waived for five day members and guests, however a donation to Ian's chosen charity, the Samaritans, would be appreciated in lieu of this. Additional dinner guests wishing to attend need to be booked in advance with tickets costing £17.50 per person. To enter either the Club Championships or the Charity Day, please either reply to this email or use the sign-up sheets on the main noticeboard.
I would like to wish both Iain Carter and Tana Churchill the best of luck in the coming days. Iain is taking part in the London Marathon on Sunday, raising funds for the MS Society. If you would like to sponsor Iain you can do so by clicking here. Tana may face a marathon of golf as she competes in the Surrey Ladies Championship from Friday at Burhill. If she were to reach Sunday's final, Tana would face six rounds in three days!
Please be aware that this Friday sees the Vets and Ladies Mixed Greensomes event take place which means both tees are reserved between 8:30am and 9:30am, and again between approximately 10:30am and 11:30am as the matches turn.
Kind Regards,
Paul Schunter

As mentioned in last week's email, Enrique Dimayuga was representing England U16's last week in their quadrangular match against Ireland, Wales and the Netherlands. Enrique helped the team to a second place finish after they won two of their three matches, losing only to Ireland who topped the table. Congratulations also go to Buster O'Callaghan and Edward Dimayuga who were both winners in their respective matches for Surrey against the Essex U13's team when playing at Leatherhead Golf Club on Sunday, 16 April.
