Hello golfers, This year’s Open Championship failed to disappoint, with Sunday’s back nine one of the most memorable in recent history. Jordan Spieth continued his march through golf’s record books by winning his third Major before reaching the age of 24, his birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie run on the back catapulted him past Matt Kuchar to win the Claret Jug by three strokes. Congratulations to Tony Smith who was lucky to be drawn Spieth in our Open Sweepstake, the other winners were Christine Snelling (Matt Kuchar), Darren Sutton (Haotong Li), David Solman (Rory McIlroy) and Alistair Lawson (Rafa Cabrello-Bello). On Monday we hosted the Surrey Rookie Tour, with 90 juniors taking to the course across three age categories with plenty of Cuddington members taking part. The best finishes came from James Crossett (Third in the U14's), Luke Jones (Eigth in the U12s) and Herry Ji (Fourth in the girls section). Well done to all those who took part, it was great to see so many youngsters out enjoying the game. Please will all members note that the 19th bar area will be closed between Monday, 14 August and Thursday, 17 August so that work to remedy the acoustics in this area can take place. During this time the dress code in the lounge area will be relaxed so that golf shoes can be worn as the spike bar is closed. We thank you for your patience while this work takes place. Kind Regards, Paul Schunter. Director of Golf & Operations. |
