Hello golfers, The qualification process for the 2018 Ryder Cup starts this week as the European Tour visitis the Czech Republic as Europe’s best players begin their quest for one of the spaces in Thomas Bjørn’s team in Paris next September. As part of changes announced earlier this year, there will be a greater weighting for points earned in tournaments in the latter stages of the 2018 Ryder Cup qualification process to help ensure the European Team reflects those players in form nearer the time of the Ryder Cup itself. Bjørn will also have four wildcards at his disposal, as opposed to three in previous years, while no Ryder Cup qualification points will be available from tournaments staged anywhere in the world opposite Rolex Series tournaments, both in 2017 and 2018. Last week Scott Mutter and Paul Freshwater represented Cuddington in the Surrey Club Foursomes Championship, where they finished in second place. Their score of 145 (3-over-par) was three shots back of eventual winners Wentworth who had combined handicaps of +6.
As we continue our preparations for next year’s Cuddington diary, we would ask all members to ensure we have your correct contact details on file. If either your telephone number or email address have changed in the last year then please update it on the sheets provided by the main club noticeboard. The update sheets will be available for the next two weeks. We hope to have the 2018 club diary with us and ready to collect around late November/early December. Please be aware that next week will be the Final Wednesday Evening Stableford of the season due to the theatre trip occupying the dining room on Wednesday, 13 September. Kind Regards, Paul Schunter Director of Golf & Operations.
