This week see the PGA reach the second stage of their play-off series, with many big names in need of an even bigger performance to continue their progress into the final few events. Rory McIlroy is one such player as he attempts to re-discover some form in a pretty fragmented season. Jordan Speith currently leads the standings in the FedEx cup, closely followed by Justin Thomas and Dustin Johnson. The leader at the conclusion of the Tour Championship in a few weeks will walk away with a cool $10,000,000 bonus!

Both Richard Parr and Mark Robson were victories in their Semi-final matches in the Men’s Annual Singles last week, meaning they will face each other in the Final in the coming weeks. Congratulations also go to Ian Twydell and David Bolton who defeated Paul Purton and Kevin Hazelden in the play-off for the John Turk Memorial Stableford. Well played gents.

As we continue our preparations for next year’s Cuddington diary, we would ask all members to ensure we have your correct contact details on file. Golfing Events

As we head towards the end of the golfing season there is still plenty to play for in the coming weeks. On Saturday, 23 September the annual Celts vs. English match takes place. With bragging rights to play for, this is always a hotly contested affair. Following the match in the afternoon there will be a free drink on arrival, a two course dinner followed by a comedy impressionist. The cost for the day is £36 per person with entry fees being deducted from swipe cards following the publication of the start sheet.

A few weeks later we have the Warren League End of Season Golf Day which is followed by a dinner and dance. The golf is open to anyone with a handicap between 10 and 27, with a trophy up for grabs to those who have represented the club in the Warren League this year. The dinner and dance kicks off from 7:00pm and includes a three course meal and live music from “Inflation” – tickets cost £38 per person.

• Sunday, 4 February 2018 – Theatre trip to The Play That Goes Wrong. Following a triumphal six-month international tour and a best new comedy win at the What’s On Stage Awards 2014, The Play That Goes Wrong is now enjoying an extended run at the West End’s Duchess Theatre. The Play That Goes Wrong is a side-splitting farce about an amateur drama society’s attempts to stage a 1920’s murder mystery play. The group of hapless thespians and backstage crew battle fudged lines, crumbling sets and disappearing props as they claw their way desperately to the final curtain call. The cost per person including a return coach (Departing the clubhouse at 12:30pm), two course evening supper and matinee theatre ticket is £55 per person. We are asking members to express their interest by signing-up on the main noticeboard or emailing the office.
