Hello golfers,

Well amazingly we are already now into October, where has this year gone? Captain's Day on Saturday was a success with 124 competitors. The winners on 86 points were the team of Ian Bosley, Jon Bell, Stuart Butt and Matt Taylor. No less than four teams achieved 85 points so on countback the team of David Draper, Andy Edwards, Matthew Marchesi and Nick Sergant came second whilst Martin Blair, Robin Boss, Ian Johnson and David Pollitt came third. The leading all ladies team on the day were Barbara Bolton, Shirley Eades, Penny Rattle and Lorraine Sutton.

With the European Tour returning to UK soil it was great to see an exciting finish to the British Masters with Paul Dunne winning his first event and holding off a closely fought Rory who was returning to form as he mounted a final round charge. It will be interesting to see if Rory can take this form into this week's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and hopefully Ross Fisher can have a good week as he currently stands ninth in the ‘Race to Dubai’ rankings.

As many of you are aware the 19th bar is currently having sound insulation installed to improve its acoustics. Once this work is complete the bar will be decorated before reopening. The practice nets are also currently undergoing some maintenance where an artificial covering is being installed around them. This work will be completed at the beginning of next week.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish Tana Churchill all the best at Royal Mid Surrey in the Inter Club Gold Medal Finals. Tana has played four rounds so far to reach this final where she plays Lauren Gooding from Roehampton.

Junior OOM 7

With 14 competitors taking part, Henry Bale won the 7th Junior Order of Merit event on countback from Joseph Berbner both with 37 points. Lewis Dimayuga came third with 35 points.

Murder Mystery Evening – Saturday, 28 October. See if you can work out 'who done it' at our murder mystery evening, tickets cost £38 per person which includes a blood thirsty three course dinner. This event is open to both members and their guests.
Rat Pack – Saturday, 18 November - £38 per person which includes a three course meal. David Alacey’s Rat Pack show featuring Frank, Sammy and Dean. The hit tribute show ’The Rat Pack’ perfectly captures not only the wonderful music and comedy of the original legends, but also the remarkable personalities of the stars who truly ruled the entertainment world.

Get ready for autumn

Baring a late spurt of summery weather, I think it’s fair to say that autumn is well and truly here. To prepare yourself for the cooler and wetter conditions we now have in stock FootJoy’s brand new waterproof jackets and outerwear, along with some great club crested sweaters from Nike. Opening hours

As the evenings are drawing in, so are the opening hours of the pro shop. From now until the clocks change at the end of October, the pro shop will now close at 5:00pm. Once the clocks change this will move to 4:00pm throughout the winter months.
