Hello Golfers,

This year’s Charity Day took place on Saturday in aid of the Captain’s Charity Wooden Spoon. Wooden Spoon is the Children’s Charity for rugby and its mission is “To positively transform the lives of children and young people with a disability or facing disadvantage across the UK and Ireland through the power of rugby”.

Unfortunately, on the day the weather was pretty awful, but all 80 competitors managed to play and enjoy themselves. Paul Vermont holed a long put with a hickory shafted putter in the putting competition half way round to win a bottle of Champagne and Gerry O’Doherty won the first prize in the raffle which was an electric motocaddy trolley.

The golfing highlight of the day has to go to Chris Robinson who had a hole-in-one on the 4th, not surprisingly this beat Luan who was running a Beat the Pro competition on the hole, eight others managed to beat her.

The day was won by Chris Robinson, Jan Robinson, Phil Hykin and Ruth Hykin who played some great golf on their way to 85 points. Following the auction, the total raised on the day surpassed £10,000.

The first of this year’s Wednesday Evening Stablefords took place yesterday so please look out for the email with the results.

US Open Marshalling at the US Open Qualifying - Monday, 4 June

On Monday, 4 June Cuddington are providing a team of volunteers to marshall at the US Open Qualifying taking place at Walton Heath. This is a fantastic opportunity and anyone wishing to help should sign-up on the sheet found on the main noticeboard. Once Brian Groves has full details, he will then contact you with further information nearer the date.

What's your go-to club?

Some rounds our driver is our best friend, consistently finding the fairway and not putting us into any trouble off the tee.
