Hello Golfers,

Yesterday led by the Ladies Captain Annalie Wilson Cuddington won the “Surrey Ladies Clubs Trophy”, this was the second year in a row that the ladies have come away victorious. Hosted at Cuddington as the defending champions and playing against the RAC, Kingswood and Tyrells Wood with the best six scores from teams of eight to count Cuddington won by over 20 points! This is a great achievement and is a great accolade for our ladies’ section.

As you have all read by now following on from the woodland management report there will be a forum at the club on Thursday, 12 July at 7pm to explain and discuss the way forwards. On the evening John Nicholson will make a presentation and explain how the implementation of the report will impact, enhance and improve our course before a question and answer session. For those of you that have not yet had a chance to view the report it can be found on our website by clicking here.

The golf course at Cuddington continues to look fabulous. When you look back over some of the challenges our green staff have faced over the winter months and combine that with stories of course closures, temporary greens and boggy conditions from other courses we really are lucky. Now with the soil still a little damp and the warmer temperatures at this time of year a different challenge presents itself, grass cutting! In order to present the course as everyone has now become accustomed:

Greens are cut daily to a height of 2.7mm
Tees and Approaches are cut three times per week at 11mm
Fairways are cut three times per week at 17mm
Semi Rough is cut twice a week at 35mm
Rough is cut once a week at 100mm

On a few holes some posts have now been added to the tiger rough to help you get a line on your ball should you hit it there. Recently, the approach to the chipping green has been cut differently and there are now nine flags on the lower part of the practice putting green and three slightly larger ones on the top part where you are allowed to chip to.

British Masters Marshalling at Walton Heath - Wednesday, 10 October - Sunday, 14 October

Having provided on many occasions the opportunity to Marshall at US Open qualifying, Cuddington members now have the opportunity to volunteer to marshall at the British Masters which also takes place at Walton Heath this year. This is a fantastic opportunity and anyone wishing to help should sign-up on the sheet found on the main noticeboard. Once Brian Groves has full details, he will then contact you with further information nearer the date.
