Greetings from Paul Schunter
Cuddington Golf Club - Director of Golf

St George's DayLast Friday saw the inaugural St George's Day competition take place with many of you turning out to enjoy some Friday afternoon golf. The winners on the day were Chris Green and Ernie Jarvis who scored an excellent 43 points winning by three from Russ Shires and Steve Clarke. The festivities after golf carried on well into the evening as the competitors enjoyed a traditional roast dinner and live music from 60's pop group "Chicory Tip".

More good scoring was on show the following day in the Gent's London Fields Playing Cup Medal as Chris Kennedy took the honours in Division 2 with a superb nett 66, closely followed by Hing Cheung and Keith Morris who recorded nett 68 and 69's respectively. In Division 1 a countback was needed to separate the top three with Stuart Butt eventually winning after he tied with Kevin Marchesi and Richard Greaves after all returned nett 70's.

Our Junior Rookie League team recorded another excellent result on Sunday beating Farnham 2-0 away again with many team members giving a large number of shots to the opposition. The two away wins in recent weeks have left the team in a strong position for their two upcoming home games against Wentworth and Bramley.

Finally entries are now open for the Cuddington Decanter which will be played on Friday, 15 May. The format is a betterball stableford from 1pm, with a two course dinner after play. To book your spot please add your name to the sign in sheet on the main club noticeboard.

How well do you look after your feet?

As mentioned in last week's email we will be holding a shoe fitting day in conjunction with FootJoy on Friday, 29 May. With up to 70% of golfers wearing the wrong sized shoe. I'm sure many of you will benefit from some expert advice from one of FootJoy's dedicated shoe fitters. Bookings for the appointment slots are now being taken in the pro shop. Please click here and book early to avoid disappointment.

PING G30 Range

Stock for our PING fitting cart has now arrived with their fantastic G30 range. With their patented colour coded fitting system, we are able to provide an extremely good fit for both irons and woods. Why not take one out for a test drive the next time you play?

Need a new pair of spikes?

The pro shop team are seeing numerous pairs of spikes in need of repair with many being brought to us with little or no spikes left. As the only point of contact with the ground it is important that your spikes give you the maximum possible traction with the turf. With a new set of spikes costing less than £10 why not treat your feet to a new set?
