Rory McIlory produced a sparkling performance this week in winning the Wells Fargo Championship beating his own course record on the way after a spectacular 61on Saturday. His 21 under par total gave him a seven shot winning margin and a huge amount of momentum ahead of this week's PGA Championship at Wentworth. For those of you who have not visited Wentworth during the tournament week before I urge you to do so with so many of the world's best players competing on your doorstep. It's an experience not to be missed.
Closer to home there has been a busy week of competitions at the club. Last week saw the Ladies hold their Spring Meeting with some solid scores being returned despite less than favourable weather conditions! Congratulations go to Beverley Evans and Cathy Graves who won the scratch prizes in the Silver and Bronze divisions respectively. The nett prizes were won by Hana Law (silver) and Joan Swann (bronze), while on Thursday Ann May and Penny Rattle won the Betterball event with their 40 point total.
Last Friday saw the Cuddington Decanter take place with nearly 50 competitors vying to get their name on the coveted trophy. After a day of excellent scoring the pairing of Phil Coombes/Steven Davidge came out on top with 43 points, winning on count back from Kevin Marchesi/Chris Schofield. Many thanks to all those who played and made the day such a success.
Finally entries for this year's Club Championships on the 13th and 14th of June are now open on the main noticeboard. The Championships are open to all players with handicaps of 13 and lower.
