The Club Championships were played in a great spirit this weekend with 72 competitors starting on Saturday before the cut was made for Sunday's round of the top 40 scores and ties. The course was in magnificent condition and received praise from all those who played. A full round up of the Championships can be found in the email below.

Club Championships
Scoring at this year's Club Championships proved difficult with low numbers at a premium. After Saturday's play the cut for qualification to the second round was for those who scored 88 or better. After round one, Paul Freshwater and Bob Condie led the way after their rounds of 75. In the nett competition Jon Bell and Stephen Hawkes 69's gave them a slender advantage heading into round two. Sunday saw a slight improvement in the scoring despite the odd unseasonal shower. Paul Freshwater was able to hold off a back nine charge from Scott Mutter to claim his third Club Championship title after rounds of 75 and 74 gave him a total of 149 and a one shot victory. Nigel Edwards' nett 69 saw him jump up the leaderboard to win both the nett and senior's net prizes while Bob Condie won the Seniors gross prize after rounds of 75 and 79. Many thanks to those who participated and all other members who either volunteered their help or attended the prize giving for their contribution to the Championships.
Vets Summer Meeting
Last Friday the Vets section took to the course for their summer meeting on the hottest day of the year so far. The heat transferred into the scoring as many players took advantage of the fine weather to post good scores in the three competitions that ran on the day amongst which were the Cuddington Vets Championship, the George Parker Challenge Cup as well as the Coley Cup and the Blackford Bowl. The Vets Championship was won by John Westbrook with 41 points (pictured with President Roy Jakes), second was Richard Whitehead with 40 points and third was Mickey Poole with 39 points. The Coley cup was won by John Towers with 43 points, second was Tony McCarty with 41 points and third was Trevor Wales with 39 points. The Blackford Bowl was won by Alan Andrews with 18 points, second was Chris Kennedy with 18 points and third was David Pearson with 18 points.
