Those who tuned in to watch the U.S. Open last week may have seen the beginning of Jordan Spieth's journey to becoming a golfing superstar. Some may feel his second major win in a row was a little fortunate as Dustin Johnson squandered numerous opportunities on Sunday including a three putt at the last to hand the title to the 21 year old. There were many other players such as Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace and even Rory McIlroy who came close but were let down by poor scores earlier in the tournament. The course at Chambers Bay came in for plenty of criticism, particularly the greens, which Henrik Stenson described as like "putting on broccoli"! If you can't get enough of major championship golf then don't worry - The Open gets under way in just over a fortnight's time.

The annual summer ball took place last Saturday with over 110 members attending the black tie event.
