On Sunday the Cuddington Pro-Am took place with just under 200 golfers taking to the course in tricky, breezy conditions. The winning team's score came from new members Peter Dethridge, Tony Lawrence and Tim Riley who teamed up with Professional Torie Blakemore to return an excellent score of 15 under par, narrowly pipping my team of Gareth Jones, Gary Dawes and Ian Bosley. The Pro's individual prize was won by Chris Rodgers of Royal Mid Surrey who shot an excellent round of 67 (4 under par) to win by a single shot from a trio of players. I would like to again thank everyone who sponsored prizes, volunteered their time or participated in the day. In particular a mention must go to Chris Williams for his tireless work over the course of the year in securing sponsorship and helping to make the day such a success.
The Open returns to St Andrews this week with many of the world's best players looking to take the title that Rory McIlroy won last year. With the world number one now side-lined with an ankle injury many people can't see past another victory for Jordan Spieth following his two major wins this year and his win in last week's PGA Tour event. Cuddington member Ross Fisher is also in the field so he is my pick for a win this week!
Finally, entries for this year's Celts vs. English match on Saturday, 26 September are now open via the sign up sheet on the main noticeboard. The format of the day is arrival drinks, golf at 1pm, followed by a two course dinner and entertainment by Comedian John Ryan with the cost of £35 per person.
