Vets Invitational
Last Wednesday the Vets section held their annual invitational day with over 60 players taking part. In a day of low scoring the winners were Roger Graham and his guest John Parker (pictured) who topped the leaderboard with their 46 point total. Their nearest challengers were the pairings of Chris Townsend and Bob Dore (45 points) and Trevor Wales and David Ruston (44 points). A special thank you must go to Vets Secretary Brian Groves for all his hard work organising the day to make it such a success.

Course Maintenance
Please be aware that Simon started his second week of scheduled course maintenance on Monday, 3 August. During the following days there will be some disruption to the playing surfaces, with the work likely to be completed by the end of the week. Although it is frustrating to have to disrupt the playing surfaces in the middle of the summer, the course will reap the benefits later in the year and over the winter months.
Defibrillator
The club has now taken delivery of a defibrillator which will located behind the bar in case of someone at the club suffering a heart attack. Given that it is possible an inexperienced rescuer may need to act as the first person on scene in an emergency, the fully automatic device gives voice and text prompts that coach the rescuer throughout each CPR cycle. Although we hope not to have to use the defibrillator, please be aware of its location if it is required.
Sign In Sheets
Starting on Monday, 17 August we will be trialling a new system where members will be asked to sign in with the pro shop before heading out onto the course. While tee times will not be available to book in advance, this system will give us a better idea of who is on the course at any given time which will help us manage the flow of the course during busy periods and to advise other members of the best time to start later in the day.
