This week sees a strong field head to Woburn in Bedfordshire to compete for the British Masters which returns to the European Tour Schedule. For those who have not been to see a professional tournament before then I would encourage you to do so especially as Woburn is such a fantastic venue and the world's top players rarely play so close to home these days. It would seem that last week's glorious weather has been interrupted by some much more autumnal weather. We now have more and more autumn/winter clothing in stock in the pro shop which will help you keep warm and dry over the coming months!
We look forward to seeing you at the club this week.
Junior News
The Cuddington team were runners up in the regional finals of the Junior Team Golf Home Nations Championship held at Farnham on Sunday, 4 October. The team performed remarkably well against a winning team from Stoneham who fielded a six boy team with handicaps from scratch to five which is particularly impressive. Enrique Dimayuga looked to retain his Order of Merit title in the Surrey Rookie Under 14 category, but unfortunately failed by a few shots in the Final "Race to the Stars" competition held at the R.A.C. Club which was also held last weekend. Well done to Enrique for a fine effort over the course of the season!

FootJoy Shoe Fitting Day
Spaces are now filling up fast for our next FootJoy shoe fitting day on Wednesday, 21 October. For those of you thinking of investing in a new pair of shoes before the winter takes hold this is the perfect opportunity to get your feet measured by a member of the FootJoy team to ensure you get the best fit possible. Due to the popularity of the event we held earlier in the year I would strongly advise booking an appointment as no guarantees can be made that you will be able to be seen on the day without one.
To book your spot please click here to contact the pro shop.
Course Maintenance
This week see's Simon and his team conduct their final phase of major course works for the year. The greens will now be pencilled tined and left to grow over natural and the height of cut will then be raised to 4mm. Monthly applications of liquid irons, turfite, seaweed and turf hardener will continue to aid disease resistance. Two applications of Fungicide have already been applied to the greens for disease prevention with possibly two more to be applied by Christmas. In early November a slow release fertiliser will be applied to the greens to maintain nutrition until spring.
The frequency of cutting will now start to diminish on all surfaces, although the greens will always be cut at least twice a week during the winter. Soon leaf clearance will take place which is a major job at Cuddington! Once winter rules are in place, all tees, approaches and high traffic areas will be hollow tined. From late October, the greens will also be sorrel rolled and slit alternatively once per week.
Matchplays
The draws for both the Dutch Cup and the Snell Salver have been completed and have now been posted on the relevant noticeboards in the clubhouse. For those that have entered the deadline for first round matches is Monday, 2 November for the Dutch Cup and Sunday, 31 January for the Snell Salver.
Pin Sheets
Along with our new scorecards which arrived a few weeks ago, we will now also be offering pin sheets for you to use throughout the round. These can be collected in the pro shop, or for those with a smart phone they can be viewed using the MyPinPoint golf app which is free to download from either the iTunes or Google Play stores.
